Arts & Activism

Our mission and vision are to help support the voices and the art of artists in recovery from substance use. We hope to achieve a creative and collaborative space for artists in recovery. The project started as an idea — an idea that realized itself over countless times in and out of recovery, treatment,  sober time, and the building blocks of a group of likeminded people in recovery. Art is how we know how to express our experiences, feelings, hopes, and dreams. Often times, art, especially art by those in recovery, can make or break a relapse; the maintenance of creativity often drives artists towards substance use and it can be the difference between life and death.

Our Story

GLAS HAÜS RX — it all began with an idea. As an artist, it was an idea surmised in a dream. As a person in recovery, it was a healthy idea over the alternative, hitting rock bottom. GlAS HAÜS RX founded its roots on pieces of paper and sketches from Wolf’s time in treatment in the Berkshires. Maybe life in recovery will change for the better in a pursuit of a serious and loving relationship with art, music, and fashion. Maybe time will fall more accordingly with the creative way our stories carry presence; or perhaps something tangible will manifest through honesty in the work of helping others in recovery.  Or maybe, through alignment of recovery minded practice with the genius of art, one will become whole in this lifetime.

The Future

Our nonprofit will continue to work on building creative spaces for artists in recovery, holistic environments that nourish continued sobriety as well as sustained implementation of innovative programs and education that promote a creative path in recovery. As a resource for people, and as a hub for artists in recovery, we wish to help promote and build a supportive collective and art base for those who would like to imagine what a ideal life in recovery would look like.
